Reinventing Retirement Asia: Employment and Active Engagement Beyond 50 Conference 2009

This conference took place over January 15th and 16th in Singapore. Jointly organized by AARP and Singapore’s Council for Third Age (a quasi-government organization). It was a great success.

The opening address was delivered by Mr. Lee Hsien Loong, Prime Minister of Singapore and attended by other senior government ministers. This underlined the importance of the issue and attracted a load of press coverage.

AARP Board Member Dr. William Hall, was one of the opening speakers. His remarks can be found here: AARP.

While the audience (around 350 registered) was dominated by Singaporeans, the speakers, panellists and moderators came from 16 countries and included some great talent.

The topics for the break out sessions will give you a fiar idea of the themes:

  • Financial Education & Literacy
  • Human Resources Strategies for Engaging and Retaining Older Workers
  • Lifelong Learning & Training of Older Workers
  • Workplace Design for the Ageing Workforce
  • Opportunities of an Ageing Population
  • Cultural Change & Intergenerational Cooperation
  • Media & Messaging: Changing Attitudes & Perceptions (See below).
